For law firms & legal services

Legal privilege protects the conversation. You need to protect thefiles.

Protect client files, exchange matter documents securely, and meet GDPR and professional secrecy obligations – all from one Swiss hosted platform with zero third-party access.

The reality

Gaps in data security don't just create compliance risk. They breach client trust.

Legal professionals operate under strict confidentiality obligations: totheir clients, to their regulators, and to the courts. But professionalsecrecy rules only govern what lawyers can disclose. They saynothing about the security of the infrastructure those files travelthrough. That gap is where most law firm data incidents begin.

Sensitive matter documents sent by email

Contracts, due diligence documents, litigation bundles, and privileged correspondence are exchanged at every stage of a matter often via email or generic file-sharing tools. Each unprotected exchange creates both a compliance exposure and a potential breach of the confidentiality your clients expect as standard.

Not enough control over who has access

Law firms regularly share sensitive files with clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and regulatory bodies, each requiring controlled, time limited access to specific matter documents. When that access isn't centrally governed, a single misrouted document can have consequences that go far beyond an IT incident.

Compliance obligations that don't simplify themselves

Law firms in the DACH region operate under GDPR for personal data, national professional secrecy rules, and increasingly stringent bar association data handling requirements. Meeting all three with fragmented, non sovereign tools creates gaps that are difficult to close.

Built to meet the standards you operate under

Close the infrastructure gap that privilege doesn't cover

Credentials, files, and document exchange are the three points where client confidentiality is either protected or compromised. SecureSafe addresses all three: on the same Swiss-hosted infrastructure, with the same zero-knowledge architecture, and without adding complexity to your practice.

Files

One secure place for every matter file your firm handles

Store matter files, privileged correspondence, due diligencedocumentation, and compliance records in encrypted, permissioncontrolled safes – organized by matter, accessible to the right teammembers, and invisible to everyone else, including us.

  • Protect sensitive documents with encrypted storage
  • Control access clearly across teams and roles
  • Share files securely in teams without losing oversight

Pass

Manage access across matters, teams, and external counsel

  • Store and manage credentials securely in one place
  • Share access without exposing passwords
  • Keep full control, even as teams and roles change

Exchange

Replace email with secure matter file exchange

Send and receive contracts, due diligence files, litigation bundles, and privileged correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties – with automatic audit trails, and no account creation required on the other sideʼs end.

  • Client document collection and exchange
  • Due diligence file sharing
  • Secure file exchange with opposing counsel

Postbox

Replace paper-based document delivery with a legally compliant digital alternative

Send mandate documents at scale without paper, postage, or compliance risk. Once delivered, documents belong to the client and can't be altered.

  • Annual accounts delivery
  • Tax assessment dispatch
  • Mandate correspondence archive

Security

The infrastructure that covers what privilege doesn't.

GDPR requires documented, auditable handling of personal data. Professional secrecy rules require demonstrable confidentiality controls. SecureSafe is ISO 27001-certified, developed and hosted entirely in Switzerland, and built on a zero-knowledge architecture, meaning even we can't access your data. The documentation your compliance review requires is ready when you need it.

FAQs

Find answers to your most important questions explained here.

How long does implementation take, and what does onboarding involve?

Implementation timelines depend on the modules deployed and your existing infrastructure. For most insurers, initial deployment can be completed within a few weeks. Our team handles onboarding directly, with a dedicated contact through go-live and beyond. API integrations into existing claims or customer portals are supported where relevant.

Where is our data hosted, and who can access it?

All data is hosted exclusively in Switzerland, on infrastructure owned and operated by SecureSafe. Swiss data protection law applies. No data is routed through or stored in EU or US jurisdictions. Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, SecureSafe has no technical ability to access your data; access is controlled entirely by your organisation.

How does SecureSafe support our professional secrecy obligations?

SecureSafe is designed to support the confidentiality infrastructure that professional secrecy obligations demand. Zero-knowledge architecture ensures client files are inaccessible to third parties including SecureSafe. Swiss hosting keeps data under European jurisdiction. Server-side encryption protects data at rest and in transit.

When using SecureSafe Exchange, can opposing counsel and external parties access documents without creating an account?

Yes. SecureSafe Exchange allows external parties – including clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, and regulatory bodies – to access a secure document area via a link and two-factor authentication, without creating an account. Access is time-limited and revocable, and every interaction is logged with a full audit trail.

Is SecureSafe suitable for smaller boutique firms as well as larger full-service firms?

Whether you manage ten active matters or ten thousand, SecureSafe scales accordingly. Boutique firms typically start with Exchange or File and add modules as their practice grows. The platform adapts to your firm – not the other way around.
